Frequently Asked Questions

What is a trade service fee?

When you request a repair you pay a trade service fee. The fee is the deductible for that service call. Please see your declaration of coverage for the amount of your trade service fee, or ask your customer support representative. For example, if you need both your air conditioner and your interior electrical system repaired, a trade service fee will be incurred for each repair needed (ie. an HVAC technician and an electrician).

Why is there a 30-day wait period?

We have a 30-day wait period to help protect us from pre-existing conditions. This waiting period helps to keep plan costs down since we do not perform an inspection to determine the condition of your appliances and systems.

Does a home warranty cover TV’s?

Whether your TV is covered by a home warranty largely depends on the plan you select from the warranty company. American Residential Warranty now covers TV’s with our Ultimate Electronics Protection Plan! All of your computing and home entertainment devices can now be protected under one plan – TV’s, laptops, tablets, desktop computers, game systems, home theater systems and so much more! Call 888-840-0005 for more details.

Upgrades

In some cases, a covered appliance or system may experience a mechanical failure due to normal wear and tear and may not be economical to repair, or parts may no longer be available for older units. In these instances, a repair allowance (also known as a “cash-out”) may be paid to the homeowner. That cash-out can then be used towards the cost of a new appliance or system. ARW Home members have access to exclusive discounts, through our affiliation with GE and Lowe’s, so they don’t need to pay the full retail price for their new appliances or systems! Members have access to these discounted rates with GE and Lowe’s even if an appliance or system hasn’t failed.
